Then finished with a mile cool down👊🏼 Took it as focusing on form and keeping a steady pace instead of going for time! Looking forward to competition season💪🏼🏃🏼‍♀️

This week was not typical for me. I had the week off (the timing could not have been better) and I was home with Oakley 🐶 and visiting my momma. Things I am proud of this week... .

💛making zero plans.
.
💛not checking my work emails until today (and boy do I regret checking 😂 the whirl of stress and anger that took over was quite unpleasant, think I maybe need a career change? Ya, me too 🙋🏼‍♀️).
.
💛it took me 6 days to finally feel rested, but I am now rested 😝.
.
💛I’ve actually accomplished (productivity wise) 🚫 but THAT is an accomplishment in and of itself.
.
💛I’ve had the most consistent nights of sleep I’ve had in MONTHS!
.
💛 following my taper plan to a T - minus the failed workout 😳 but, it was the smartest decision for me at the time because my cold is now GONE! 💃🏼 In the past during taper, less mileage gave me anxiety. Not this time. I’m actually really enjoying the free time and have been spending extra time on stretching and mentally visualizing my race. The difference now is I’m calm (this is huge) and confident (double huge) in the last several months of training.

💛 lots of self reflection & visualization, which got me EXCITED for the future for the first time in two years. I realized that I have been nothing but scared of what’s to come because there is SO much uncertainty in the season my husband and I are currently in. Looking forward has always given me anxiety and it’s finally starting to feel exciting. .

My M430 is back!!! Thanks to @polarglobal for fixing the GPS, I went out for a  quasi-pyrimidal tempo run. I started with 10min zone 2, 10min zone 3, 50 minutes zone 4, 10min zone 3, 10min zone 2. My pace during the zone 4 phase was 8:15/mi which I'm pretty pleased with. HR was right around lactic threshold as well; so despite the rain it was a really good workout! Hope  all you #instarunners had a good day too!

It’s interesting how much faster I move when I see coyotes circling around me. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Yes, there seems to be a few of these furry critters living in our midtown cemetery.
Everyone keeps saying “Don’t worry, they won’t hurt you!”...but, I’m convinced that they’re following me...They seem to be getting closer & closer each time... Memory note: find someone slower to run with! 😏

Reposted from @_monikali_ -  I can smell spring! 💗🌱 So today I had this conversation with @sarahmelodylewis over brunch about our motivations to run. I said that what gets me out of the door even when it’s awful outside is the fact that I know I will feel so much better afterwards and my day will just improve (#mentalhealth). While that is true, during my run later I tapped into it and realised that I am, and have always been, someone who needs constant challenges in my life be it personal, professional, going on adventures that will test me somehow... so my motivation is very much goal-orientated too - right now @halfmds which is huge for me and that’s the point of it 🐪🌞. I feel like every training I do I get closer to my goal. I think any reason is valid for that matter and we just need to find what drives us to do stuff we want to do. What motivates you to go out and #run? 🏃🏻‍♀️

This gorgeous view made up for what was, a terrible feeling 5.5km run.

I had all these intentions of getting up early and going for a run before taking my 7.30am bootcamp.

Only, tiredness won out and I stayed in bed.

So then I decided I'd go straight after bootcamp (note, I run the bootcamp, not participate in it!). But then I came home and felt like sitting down to a cup of decaf as I was hungry but didn't want to run on a full stomach. Also, I was procrastinating! 🤣

So by the time I FINALLY put my shoes on and got out the door, it was after 10.30am, I had zero energy and felt like rubbish for the whole duration of my 'run'. Argh, the struggle truly is real and just because I work as a fitness trainer, doesn't make me any more exempt from those feelings of not wanting to exercise!

What keeps me going though when others wouldn't? One word: HABIT.
